Cheers to 118 years of UPS!
See how UPSers grew our company from small business to global enterprise
This week, we’re celebrating UPS’s 118th birthday by honoring our past while recognizing the UPSers who are creating our future.
“At UPS, change isn’t just something we navigate – it’s something we deliver on,” said UPS CEO Carol B. Tomé. “From our humble beginnings to our global presence today, our story has always been one of transformation, innovation and forward motion.”
Our origin story: In 1907, two teenage entrepreneurs created what would become one of the world's largest companies. Starting in a Seattle basement with a $100 loan, Claude Ryan and Jim Casey opened the American Messenger Company, which would later become UPS.
Today, we continue to serve customers of every size – from the smallest local businesses to the largest global enterprises – with the same resilience and drive that has shaped UPS since our beginning.
