ICYMI: We’re on a journey to become the No. 1 complex healthcare logistics provider in the world – with an aim to double our healthcare revenue to $20 billion in 2026.
How are we getting there? We just made another step forward, recently opening our first dedicated UPS Healthcare facility in Ireland, just outside of Dublin. The $13 million investment includes nearly 20,000 square feet of space.
The facility easily handles our traditional small package, freight forwarding, and logistics and distribution services – while also supporting cold chain and UPS Premier services for our healthcare customers.
Why it matters: About 80% of pharma products in Europe, like the latest biologics and specialty pharmaceuticals, require temperature-controlled shipping and storage.
Ireland’s pharma market depends on advanced temperature-controlled logistics. The industry already accounts for nearly 50% of the country’s exports, and the market is expected to hit annual growth of 6.17% from 2024 to 2028.
“I would like to congratulate UPS Healthcare on opening their new Dublin facility, which will support Ireland’s thriving pharmaceutical and medical technology sector,” said Michael Lohan, CEO, IDA Ireland. “With this investment, UPS Healthcare is showing its commitment to innovation and reinforcing Ireland’s reputation as a leading hub for excellence across the life sciences sector.”
Globally connected: Last year, we introduced a new flight between the U.S., Ireland and the U.K. to strengthen our trans-Atlantic shipping options for our customers. The flight serves Dublin and Stansted Airports, returning to UPS’s air hub in Louisville, KY, carrying healthcare shipments and more.
Did you know? We’ve more than doubled the footprint of our dedicated UPS Healthcare facilities since 2020. Check out another recent investment we made to upgrade two facilities in Italy.
