UPS has some of the safest wheels in the industry, but don’t just take it from us. Our drivers recently took home a whopping seven out of 11 Joseph M. Kaplan Safe Driver of the Year Awards.
Presented by the National Safety Council, the award recognizes professional drivers across the U.S. who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to safe driving practices.
“The recognition doesn’t come easy,” said Nando Cesarone, Executive Vice President and President U.S. “Drivers must go 15 years – or 250K miles – without a preventable accident. I was a UPS driver myself and can confirm that takes a lot of care. It’s a big deal!”
Congratulations to 2025’s Safe Driver of the Year Award winners:
Winner | Award Region | Years of safe driving |
Bradley Bieler | West South Central | 36 |
Dee Finlinson | Mountain | 42 |
Dennis Polk | East South Central | 41 |
Jeffrey Larson | West North Central | 33 |
John Macrae | New England | 33 |
Peter Farquhar | South Atlantic | 43 |
Thomas Malen | Middle Atlantic | 39 |
All the awardees are also UPS Circle of Honor members. This exclusive honor recognizes drivers with 25 years or more without an accident. Currently, we have nearly 10,000 Circle of Honor drivers on the roads – together, they’ve driven 1.5 billion miles without as much as a fender-bender.
With stats like that, it’s no secret that the UPS culture is all about driving home the importance of safety every day. That’s why we’ve invested more than 33 million hours and nearly $2 billion on safety training over the past five years.
