Best of the best: In August, 28 drivers represented UPS at the annual National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) in a showcase of the industry’s best. Our team flexed UPS’s best-in-class safety training at the competition after qualifying in regional events earlier in the season.

“Every single driver you are competing against at this level is top-notch,” said Gragg Wilson, UPS driver and 2023 NTDC Grand Champion. “Once you get to this competition, you always want to get back.”

Team UPS: Even with our team’s combined 545 years of safe driving, nearly half were first-timers at the national event – and the competition was fierce. Their driving skills were put to the test, from tight turns and narrow lanes to complex parking maneuvers.

Did you know? When it comes to safety, teaching and training are ‘always on’ at UPS. We provide employees with industry-leading training to keep them safe.

  • UPS invests more than $409 million in safety training in the U.S. and operations employees completed nearly seven million hours of safety training in 2023 alone.
  • Nearly 10,000 UPS drivers around the world make up the UPS Circle of Honor signifying 25 years or more of safe driving. That’s 1.5 billion miles without as much as a fender-bender.
  • In more than 2,700 employee-led safety committees across the U.S., union-represented employees work hand in hand with management to conduct facility and equipment audits, recommend work process changes and provide safety compliance training.
