“I was promoted into management and had the opportunity to develop managers who looked like me. To me, that was the greatest achievement – that I was able to participate in the total integration of UPS.” – Ken Jarvis

We mourn the loss of Ken Jarvis, our company’s first African American package car driver. His dedication, work ethic and commitment to excellence propelled him through the ranks, retiring after 37 years of service as Vice President of Human Resources. In this role, Ken was instrumental in shaping the company's inclusive policies and fostering a culture of diversity and opportunity.

Beyond his pioneering achievements, Ken was known for dedicating his post-retirement years to philanthropy. Ken co-founded The MARCH Foundation (Mutual Alliance Restoring Community Hope), supporting the education of African American youth through scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $1 million in grants and scholarships to over 1,000 students.

Ken Jarvis will be deeply missed, but his impact on UPS, the communities he served, and the many lives he touched will endure for generations to come. Our thoughts are with his loved ones as we remember the powerful legacy he leaves behind.
