To the north: In 1975, UPS took a leap of faith and expanded internationally for the first time, choosing Canada as our destination. This decision marked the beginning of an incredible journey. Only one year later, we touched down in Germany, our first European stop.

And beyond: By the ‘80s, we were shipping packages between the U.S., Canada and six European countries. The launch of UPS Airlines in 1988 opened up new global markets. Fast forward to today, and we serve customers in more than 200 countries and territories – delivering billions of packages every year. But our expansion outside of the U.S. started with Canada.

Fun fact: In the early years in Canada, we delivered out of old Checker cabs painted UPS brown.

Oh, Canada: With major facilities and air hubs near big cities across the country, we efficiently serve every province and territory. This strong presence ensures reliable, timely deliveries to every address in the second-largest country in the world!

“50 years ago, a group determined UPSers helped chart a course for today’s UPS. It’s exciting to imagine where this incredible team in Canada will go next.” - Sean Griffin, UPS Canada President
