What’s the story: UPS is back on the catwalk with a limited-edition UPS apparel and merchandise collection at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Sept. 9 – 12. One of streetwear’s most significant voices and philanthropists, Angelo Baque – Creative Director and Founder of Awake NY – created the latest collection, UPS x Awake.
All profits from the UPS x Awake collection, plus an additional $50,000 in grants, will go to support a scholarship program for the next generation of Latinx fashion designers and entrepreneurs at the High School for Fashion Industries.
At NYFW, you’ll find UPS:
- Hosting La Bodega Baque – a curated bodega experience that celebrates the unstoppable spirit of the Latinx community and entrepreneurs. The interior will feature merchandise sold exclusively by Latinx-owned small businesses.
- Showcasing the limited-edition UPS x Awake NY collaboration, Unidos Para Siempre (Together Forever) collection for purchase at the bodega. Online sales will begin Sept. 13.
- Rolling out a new collection of Be Unstoppable merch available for purchase online starting Sept. 10.
Why it matters: We’re committed to fueling diverse-owned small businesses with funding and resources they need to be successful and grow. This launch will boost access to funding and amplify Latinx representation in the fashion world.
What they’re saying: "I wanted to bring intention to this partnership and design with UPS - highlighting our mutual dedication to empowering and unifying the Latinx communities. The statement ‘Unidos Para Siempre’ is inspired by the UPS acronym and the map specifically illustrates solidarity within what can be very fragmented cultural identification,” said Angelo Baque. “When Awake creates - we do so to bring people together. I am grateful to have a partner who is highlighting dynamic Latinx small businesses and designers whilst supporting our next generation of creatives."
Familiar territory: This is the second time UPS has shown up at NYFW. In February we debuted our first-ever collection at NYFW to support In The Blk, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting emerging Black fashion brands.
