Hear from some of the best drivers on the road:
Tips from a pro
George Lodovico proudly wears a 55-year Circle of Honor patch on his sleeve. That means over half a century – of driving without a single incident.
“If you do what you’re supposed to do, apply all the driving methods, and stay focused, you’ll get home safe. Then, you do it all again the next day,” George said. “Be aware of what’s around you at all times. Slow down, always stay back and never go past the speed limit.”
Experienced educator
A 30+ year UPS Circle of Honor driver, Manny Flores is a proud member of his building’s safety committee. For two decades, he’s been teaching safety to his co-workers and stressing the importance of self-care.
“I want to help drivers understand that you don’t mess with this heat,” said Manny. “You have to stay hydrated and take care of yourself.”
Mentoring younger generations
Meet Cal Murray, a UPS driver with 50+ years of safe driving who has covered an astonishing 4 million miles – enough to circle the globe 160 times over!
“I observe drivers daily and point out what they are doing right and where they can improve,” he said. “I want them to be as safe as possible and return home to their families.”
Follow the leader
With 25+ years of safe driving, Brea shares her UPS training with her family. Now her son, Alfonso, works at UPS too. Brea says the key to safety is being aware of your surroundings.
“I always pay attention to what's in front of me and what's on the sides. I check my mirrors every five to eight seconds,” she said.
An expert opinion
30+ year Circle of Honor driver Darryl has served on his local safety committee for over a decade, teaching other employees to stay safe on the job.
“You have to expect the unexpected. We never anticipate anything bad happening, but you gotta be ready for it,” he said.
