World-class safety: Would you believe nearly 10,000 current UPS drivers around the world have driven for the company for 25 years or longer without an accident? And get this – the 2024 inductee class of 1,216 drivers alone has an incredible 30,400 years of safe driving. You can tell who these drivers are by the UPS Circle of Honor patch they wear proudly on their sleeve.

Why it matters: UPS has become one of the most sought-after companies for those pursuing a career in driving. Not only does UPS provide great pay and benefits, we also celebrate safe driving – big time. So, it’s no surprise that safety means our customers can trust us to deliver what matters by providing consistent and reliable service every day.

Tips from a pro

George Lodovico proudly wears a 55-year Circle of Honor patch on his sleeve. That means over half a century – of driving without a single incident.

“If you do what you’re supposed to do, apply all the driving methods, and stay focused, you’ll get home safe. Then, you do it all again the next day,” George said. “Be aware of what’s around you at all times. Slow down, always stay back and never go past the speed limit.”

Experienced educator

A 30+ year UPS Circle of Honor driver, Manny Flores is a proud member of his building’s safety committee. For two decades, he’s been teaching safety to his co-workers and stressing the importance of self-care.

“I want to help drivers understand that you don’t mess with this heat,” said Manny. “You have to stay hydrated and take care of yourself.”

Mentoring younger generations

Meet Cal Murray, a UPS driver with 50+ years of safe driving who has covered an astonishing 4 million miles – enough to circle the globe 160 times over!

“I observe drivers daily and point out what they are doing right and where they can improve,” he said. “I want them to be as safe as possible and return home to their families.”

Follow the leader

With 25+ years of safe driving, Brea shares her UPS training with her family. Now her son, Alfonso, works at UPS too. Brea says the key to safety is being aware of your surroundings.

“I always pay attention to what's in front of me and what's on the sides. I check my mirrors every five to eight seconds,” she said.

An expert opinion

30+ year Circle of Honor driver Darryl has served on his local safety committee for over a decade, teaching other employees to stay safe on the job.

“You have to expect the unexpected. We never anticipate anything bad happening, but you gotta be ready for it,” he said.

Did you know? When it comes to safety, teaching and training are always on at UPS. We provide employees with industry-leading training to keep them safe.

  • We’ve invested more than 33 million hours and nearly $2 billion on safety training over the past five years to help prepare UPSers to work safely year-round.
  • Across the U.S., we have more than 2,500 Comprehensive Health & Safety Process (CHSP) committees in UPS facilities. CHSP committees consist of hourly employees and management who perform facility and equipment audits, recommend work process changes and provide safety compliance training
