How The UPS Foundation delivered hope after natural disasters in 2025

We start planning before the storm, and stay committed even when the sky clears.

At UPS, we know disaster relief begins long before a storm hits. Every year, The UPS Foundation works with trusted partners to plan ahead, put resources in place and make sure we’re ready to move as soon as help is needed.

That early planning made a difference in 2025. From hurricanes to wildfires to severe flooding, we responded quickly – supporting affected UPSers and communities through both the urgent moments and the road to recovery.

Here are a few ways we showed up this year:

Hurricane Melissa

Before the world’s strongest storm of 2025 even made landfall in Jamaica, our relief efforts were already underway. Through our network of humanitarian partners, we:

  • Donated four flights carrying generators, food, water, hygiene kits and portable Wi-Fi routers,
  • Worked with The Home Depot to move $1 million in clean-up and repair supplies across the island,
  • And provided $100,000 ahead of the storm for emergency logistics, communications services, food and cash assistance.

Big thanks to the UPS pilots who volunteered for our first-ever flight to Jamaica, CARE, Footprint Project, Good360 and the World Food Programme for making it possible. 🙏

Typhoon Halong

As a powerful typhoon struck western Alaska and caused major flooding, we teamed up with experienced disaster relief organizations to help. Together, we:

  • Donated four flights to Anchorage carrying warm clothes, shoes and meals,
  • Delivered backpacks filled with blankets, stuffed animals, hygiene kits and more for displaced children,
  • And funded emergency housing, food, clothes, shoes and $40,000 in cash assistance.

Thanks to The Salvation Army, the Air Logistics Aid Network, the Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, Team Rubicon and Backpacks4Kids – founded by UPS Captain Bill Vaughan – for supporting Alaskan communities. 🙌

Los Angeles Wildfires

When wildfires destroyed homes and forests across the Los Angeles area, UPS jumped into action. Alongside trusted partners, we:

  • Committed $1 million in cash and logistics support,
  • Distributed hygiene kits, masks, food and water to frontline crews,
  • Hosted events where UPS volunteers distributed mattresses, bedding and clothes,
  • Supported affected UPSers with cash assistance and financial counseling,
  • Provided emergency housing, replanted trees and helped small businesses get back on their feet.

We couldn’t have done it without The Salvation Army, Operation Hope and local organizations – thank you. 💛

服務刻在我們的 DNA 中

All year, UPSers planned ahead, acted fast and stayed committed long after disasters passed, reflecting our rich tradition of service. In 2024 alone, we supported 80 disasters and humanitarian crises worldwide, providing $12 million in grants and in-kind logistics support.

Disaster relief is just one important part of our mission. Through all The UPS Foundation’s work alongside our employees and community partners, we positively impacted more than 120 million lives in 2024 – well on our way to reaching 1 billion lives by 2040.

UPSers, thanks for all you do 🤎 Remember to log your volunteer hours and donate to causes you care about on UPS Community Connections. The UPS Foundation will match donations 1:1 up to $1,000 per employee, per year.
