Hey look ma, I made it: Michelle Calderone started at UPS as a driver helper, working part time during peak season 18 years ago. Two kids and several promotions later, she’s built a successful and long-lasting career.

And she did it without compromising what matters most: her family.

“For me, being a single mom, it's very important to be able to communicate about what I need for my kids,” Michelle said. “So that I can plan what I need to do at work along with what I have to do outside of work.”

Your time: Before UPS, Michelle didn’t know where her life would lead. She was looking for work that would allow her to grow professionally while meeting family commitments like school recitals and kids’ doctor appointments. She found that UPS’s cares about its people, with accommodating work schedules and healthy work-life balance.

Level up: And Michelle proved herself time and time again, quickly making the transition to part-time supervisor and then full-time working in package pre-loading and dispatch. In 2010, she transitioned to UPS’s industrial engineering group and got to work on the deployment of ORION, UPS’s industry-leading delivery routing platform.

I just tried to learn as much as I could and take advantage of any opportunity they gave me to try something different,” she said. “I want to go as high up as I can and push myself.”

Did you know? UPS is hiring more than 100,000 seasonal employees to serve the 2023 holiday rush.

  • UPS is filling full- and part-time seasonal positions – primarily seasonal delivery drivers, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) drivers, and package handlers – by offering industry-leading wages across multiple shifts in hundreds of locations across the country.
  • Seasonal hourly pay rates begin at $21 per hour for package handlers and driver helpers. Driving jobs begin at $23 per hour.
