Our shareholders, customers, suppliers, communities and employees care deeply about sustainability. And so does UPS. Guided by our corporate purpose of moving our world forward by delivering what matters, our culture centers around the values established by our founder Jim Casey. He believed that we should give back to the communities we serve and that we have a responsibility to all stakeholders for social and environmental stewardship. Today we approach sustainability holistically and in alignment with our Customer First, People Led, Innovation Driven strategy.
UPS’s Sustainability approach will focus on hitting our 2025 goals toward carbon neutrality by 2050 and improving 1 billion lives by 2040. We have action plans to get us there, and we are committed to pursuing planet-friendly solutions while taking care of our employees and serving our customers and communities of today and tomorrow.
I applaud our more than 500,000 UPSers around the world for working closely with our customers, suppliers and public-private partners to take action and deliver tangible results. Though much work remains, our Sustainability Highlights Brochure provides a vivid picture of how we’re tracking against our goals and delivering good in the world. We’re not just making promises, we are acting on them.
UPS has a proud past and an even brighter future, and we know our best days are ahead of us. Energized by our better and bolder strategic framework, I’m confident we will help deliver a greener, healthier and more equitable world for us all.
