What’s the story: UPS Healthcare is growing throughout Europe, investing in new facilities, new delivery lanes, growth of a specialized fleet, and new healthcare-focused products and services.

Why it matters: There’s tons of opportunity for UPS in healthcare. For example, the global market for biologic therapeutic drugs is set to reach $421.8 billion by 2025. These drugs and other sensitive treatments require precise logistics — that’s where UPS comes in.

“The pandemic has accelerated innovation in the healthcare industry like never before,” said Graham Cromb, President, UPS Healthcare Europe. “We’re aggressively expanding our network and services to ensure these patient-critical products get where they need to be, on time and at the right temperature.”

Fleet expansion: We recently expanded a specialized temperature-controlled vehicle fleet across Belgium and Italy.

Faster service: The vehicle expansion helps us provide next-day, Good Distribution Practice-compliant delivery for hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, laboratories, and doctors who are relying on time-critical and temperature-sensitive treatments for their patients. It also adds to UPS Healthcare’s existing cold chain transport services in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Hungary, the UK and Poland.

Expanding healthcare capabilities: Last year, UPS Healthcare invested in over 36,000m2 of cold chain GMP (temperature controlled) coolers and freezers globally, including in newly dedicated and upgraded healthcare facilities in Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands and Germany.
