This just in: UPS has a brand new gateway at Lyon St-Exupery airport in France. With double the sorting capacity and premium access to the runway, UPS is catapulting businesses in South and Central France to the rest of the world.

Why it matters: Our newest gateway gives ‘Made in France’ companies - like silk producers from Lyon, wine makers from Burgundy, and specialised healthcare businesses - improved access to international markets by directly linking them to Toulouse in the south as well as our European air hub in Germany.

The goal is to continue providing our customers with world-class service and to help them reach for the sky.

‘Equipped with state-of-the-art sorting technology, including radio-frequency identification for tracking sensitive healthcare parcels, we invested in this new facility to empower entrepreneurs to tap into new markets and share their products around the globe‘, said France country manager Burak Kiliç.

The facility is LEED certified, minimising environmental impact and contributing to UPS’ sustainability objectives.

The bigger picture: At Lyon, UPS does not just move parcels. This $12 million dollar investment is enabling us to deliver what matters.

Did you know? Lyon is Europe’s silk capital. Silk production at the convergence of the Rhone and Saone rivers dates back more than 2,000 years. And the city is home to nearly 6,000 small and medium-sized businesses, testament to the robust SMB ecosystem in France.
