What is the story: Today, UPS closed the acquisition of Bomi Group, a leading provider of global healthcare logistics. As a natural extension of our business, Bomi will grow UPS Healthcare’s international reach and impact countless lives.
Meet the team: Following the announcement, UPS Healthcare welcomed nearly 3,000 highly skilled Bomi team members across Europe and Latin America and added temperature-controlled facilities in 14 countries to our footprint.
What is the most important consideration? Our customers now have access to 216 facilities, totaling over 1.5 million square metres of healthcare distribution space in 37 countries and territories. The result is access to faster shipping times and greater production flexibility – meeting our clients where they are now and into the future.
‘Our combined teams, vehicles and advanced facilities will allow us to expand our pan-European cold chain network and bring the next generation of healthcare logistics solutions to our customers’, said Kate Gutmann, EVP and President of UPS International, Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions.
People led: UPS Healthcare and Bomi Group employees share similar values, with cultures firmly rooted in a relentless focus on quality.
‘With the capabilities Bomi Group brings to our network, UPS Healthcare is confident that significant new services and synergies will come in Europe and Latin America from this acquisition’, said UPS Healthcare President Wes Wheeler. ‘As we move into our transition plan, we are ready to put those synchronised services into action.’
Hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, laboratories, doctors and patients are increasingly relying on time-critical and temperature-sensitive treatments. Areas like biologics, specialty pharmaceuticals and personalised medicine are driving significant demand, and today’s acquisition primes UPS to deliver even more of what matters.
Better and bolder: UPS Healthcare’s expansion and continued innovation has the potential to save lives around the world.
Did you know?: In addition to the facilities, the acquisition adds more than 350 temperature-controlled vehicles and 4 million square feet to our global footprint. For more on today’s announcement, read the press release here.
