What is new: The UPS Store is kicking off its Start Small, Grow Big programme benefitting Junior Achievement (JA) with a $50,000 donation. And, beginning August 15 in all the 5,000+ The UPS Store locations, customers will be able to donate when they make a purchase.

JA is a non-profit that equips school-aged children to succeed in work and life by giving them knowledge and skills they need to manage money, plan for the future and make smart academic and career choices.

Why it matters: Funding programmes like JA is an impactful way for The UPS Store to reinforce its commitment to local communities and to the small business owners of today and tomorrow.

UPS ties run deep: The UPS Foundation has been partnering with JA USA for nearly 40 years and has contributed over $5.5 million in funding. UPS CEO Carol B. Tomé was even inducted into the JA of Georgia Business Hall of Fame in 2013.

Showing up for small businesses:

  • The UPS Store provides under-represented groups with resources to help them on their journey towards retail ownership — including a $15,000 discount off the franchise fee.
  • UPS Ignite is designed to help under-funded small business founders gain access to knowledge, capital and networks.
  • To date, UPS has donated more than $1 million in grants to diverse-owned small businesses through the Proudly Unstoppable campaign and partnerships with New York Fashion Week and Complex Networks.
