What’s the story: 90-year-old family business in Argentina makes big change thanks to a chance encounter. While UPS account executive Verónica Waquin was cooling off at a neighborhood public pool, she struck up a conversation with someone who turned out to be one of the owners of Don Babul.
Tannery Don Babul SA specializes in the production of custom cowhides. Their business struggled to adjust because of the pandemic difficulties. Verónica knew we could help.
The challenge: There were no commercial flights departing from Cordoba, Argentina, the city where Don Babul is headquartered. At the time, they only knew a few exporting options and the business always chose shippers based on the best price.
As it turns out, Don Babul was already a customer, but they didn’t understand all the ways UPS could help their business. They were thinking of moving the business to Miami, until Verónica showed them how our global logistics network could empower cross-border trade, reduce cost and time-in-transit without needing to move.
Why It Matters: We can help established and new companies adapt to new markets and exporting challenges.
“Customers’ needs have dramatically evolved after the pandemic,” said Verónica. “Don Babul is a good reminder that businesses should reassess their needs and reimagine how UPS can help them grow.”
