Allison Eden Studios is an art house for custom glass mosaics, specializing in handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces. Often referred to as the Lady Gaga of the tile world, owner and designer Allison Eden has created her signature style of wild patterns, bold colors and almost impossible cuts by hand. She has successfully modernized an ancient art form and built one of the most sought after glass art houses in the world.
Allison also appreciates her long-standing partnership with UPS. The art pieces are extremely fragile and any wrong move could significantly delay a project or order.
She shares a bit about the importance of her relationship with UPS and her driver, and explains how UPS’s customer-first mindset has helped her deliver what matters.
How big of a role does shipping play in your everyday business?
“Shipping is a huge part of my business. On average, we ship 100 boxes a week of very fragile glass tile. I ship delicate items and there is so much room for error from packing, to shipping, to even opening the boxes. We wrap so well and I think of my shipping company as my partner. These products are costly, delicate and time consuming to make by hand. There’s no room for error. Everything needs to be handled with kid gloves from start to installation. Shipping is half the battle.
I’ve been using UPS for at least 20 years if not more. Pastora has been my driver for about five years now.”
Can you share a little more about her role in your business?
“Pastora is the best. She’s like clockwork. Every day at 3:15 p.m. on the dot she is at my door – even in snowstorms she’s never late. One time, a very important package went missing in the UPS system and she gave me her cell phone. She then went to the hub that night to search for it. The package actually had not been updated in the system and my client was really mad at me and thought it was lost. Pastora took care of the situation and told me if this package is anywhere in the building she would find it. That’s what I call customer service. The shipment was actually in Florida already and just had not been scanned in yet.”
What would you like to tell UPSers?
“I would like to say thank you. Thank you for your hard work. It’s not an easy job lugging heavy boxes daily, but it’s so nice to see a smiling face come in to take your orders and know they are leaving in good hands. Shipping is crucial to a business and there is so much room for stress and error. In reality we are a team. We work together to get from A to B and it’s wonderful to have UPS as a partner.”
