Disaster and humanitarian relief efforts
In the face of a crisis, logistics saves lives. When disaster strikes, The UPS Foundation leverages its partnerships and UPS’ unmatched transportation and logistics capabilities to deliver essential supplies where it’s needed most. In 2024, we provided over $12M in grants and in-kind logistical support in response to 80 global disasters and humanitarian crises.
Before a storm hits, we move critical supplies near high-risk areas to enable a fast response. Afterward, we support recovery efforts by donating our services, funding grants and deploying volunteers.
- After Hurricane Helene, UPS delivered 45 lorryloads of relief supplies, provided temporary storage using UPS trailers and transported 50 additional lorryloads to support long-term recovery.
- We allocated over $1.3M to partners like CARE, MedShare and the American Red Cross to provide emergency shelter, medical aid and cash assistance across the U.S. during hurricane season.
- Following the catastrophic flooding caused by Storm Dana in Spain, UPS and employees donated nearly 9K pounds of disaster relief supplies by working with partners like Civil Protection, Cáritas Valencia, Community of Valencia Municipalities and Cruz Roja Red Cross.
Anti-human trafficking advocacy and training
Human trafficking is a global humanitarian issue that has an impact on the transportation industry and the communities we serve. Our drivers are the eyes and ears of our community, which is why UPS remains deeply engaged in raising human trafficking awareness. Since 2016, our company and our employees have donated over $11M to fight human trafficking.
More than 1.2M lorry industry professionals have been trained to recognise and report human trafficking across North America, including 205K+ UPS drivers and 3K+ UPS pilots. UPS drivers have hauled more than 25K miles and hosted 6K+ educational tours in partnership with nonprofit Truckers Against Trafficking. Together, we are supporting survivors and educating our communities.
The result? Over 21K survivors have received support through our programmes and advocacy efforts.
