What’s new: UPS has equipped its Supply Chain Solutions facility in Futian with 440 pieces of solar panels, marking its first solar panel project in China.

Why it matters: By generating our own energy for the facility, we’re a step closer to our commitment of 100% renewable electricity powering our facilities by 2035.

The solar panels will generate nearly 400,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy a year – that’s a reduction of 380 tons of carbon emissions annually! And, 75% of the electricity generated by these solar panels will be consumed by the facility, with 25% going back to the power grid.

How we’re building energy resilience:

  •  Surplus electricity generated by these solar panels will go back to the local grid, encouraging responsible energy consumption by the local community.
  • Help our customers reduce cost and climate impact. Customers who utilize our Futian facility – a green building – inevitably reduce their carbon footprint across their supply chains.
  • The success of the Futian facility inspires us to keep rolling out more low-emission initiatives and working with industry partners to accelerate our journey to a carbon neutral world.
