“This is the moment of truth we’ve been waiting for here,” said Wes Wheeler, president of UPS Healthcare. “We have spent months strategizing with Operation Warp Speed officials and our healthcare customers on efficient vaccine logistics when the time comes, and the time has arrived to put the plan into action.”

With the FDA’s emergency use authorization of the Pfiizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, UPSers leapt into action in a race against the clock to deliver one million doses to select dosing sites in the U.S.

UPS is playing an unprecedented and historic role in vaccine delivery as part of Operation Warp Speed.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the first to gain FDA approval, requires each UPS shipment container to maintain a temperature of -70°C. The innovative design maintains temperature integrity for up to 10 days.

“We’re proud to support this ongoing campaign with smart, efficient logistics for these invaluable therapies that will help protect frontline workers,” said Wes, referring to the initial doses destined for frontline healthcare workers at the direction of Operation Warp Speed officials and the CDC.
