UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced enhancements to its portfolio of retail solutions designed to improve the end-consumer experience for e-tailers. Alternate delivery locations (ADLs) launch at a time where online shopping is experiencing strong growth in Taiwan – e-commerce orders grew at an average of 20.9 percent from 2015 to 2017.1
“The consumer of today wants flexibility – from how they shop, to where their package is delivered and how payment is made,” said KK Leung, President of North Asia District, UPS Asia Pacific Region. “UPS’s latest enhancements help retailers to meet these needs, and place them in a strong position to capture a greater share of consumers in a high-potential market like Taiwan.”
Once notified by UPS, Taiwanese consumers receiving packages from international retailers can now collect from Palmbox and Chunghwa Post’s iBox e-lockers conveniently located at supermarkets, apartment complexes and selected post offices. They will also have the added flexibility to pay for any incurred import duties and taxes at selected e-lockers using a credit card.
In June 2018, UPS rolled out ADLs for cross-border B2C packages delivered in Hong Kong. The expansion of UPS’s global alternative delivery network in Hong Kong and Taiwan is one of the ways the company continues to drive sustainability in this evolving retail environment; resulting in more flexibility and convenience for consumers, and fewer miles and associated emissions for UPS.
1. The number of e-commerce orders in Taiwan grew from 634.9 million in 2015 to 927.4 million in 2017.
