What’s new: The UPS Foundation granted $20,000 to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity marking the 15th time UPS and its employees have supported the non-profit.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is the one of the biggest non-profit organization in Poland raising money for pediatric and elderly care.

Why it matters: The charity has an extensive experience in therapy and prevention of premature retinopathy, having established a national programme that enabled to run sight tests among nearly 262,000 preemies and save the eyesight of 11,088 children. For the first time, the fundraising will be aimed for the purchase of ophthalmology equipment for children.

The UPS Foundation’s philanthropic approach centers on four focus areas: health & humanitarian relief, equity and economic empowerment, local engagement and planet protection. “This year's the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity’s Grand Finale has a special symbolic meaning for us. The Orchestra will play for the 30th time in Poland, while UPS alike celebrates its 30th anniversary of operations in our country,” said Piotr Sitarek, UPS Poland Country Manager.

Behind the scenes: UPS volunteers prepared over 3,000 parcels of materials to be shipped around the world for the Grand Finale. UPS has also donated a set of three iconic model cars from a limited UPS collection for this year’s auction.
