  • Time in transit for UPS’s most economical service improves by up to 24 hours on all exports from Romania to Poland
  • Continued transformation efforts of UPS’s smart global logistics network better connect small businesses with export opportunities across Europe

UPS (NYSE:UPS), a global leader in logistics, announced a number of improvements to its network and infrastructure that reduce transit times for shipments to and from Romania. Romanian customers shipping to destinations in Poland with UPS Standard®, UPS’s most economical ground-based service, will now benefit up to one day faster time in transit for their goods.

“For any business looking to grow their customer base and stay competitive, one day makes a big difference, especially to small businesses that are just starting out,” said Yannick Mooijman, managing director of UPS Hungary, Greece, Romania & Slovenia. “Those small businesses form the backbone of the Romanian and Polish economies, with export and import volumes between these countries growing year on year. By connecting Romanian businesses with our smart global logistics network, we offer another way for them to optimize their cross-border supply chains.”

According to the 2019 UPS Pulse of the Online Shopper™ study, 38% of global online shoppers will abandon their cart if they feel the delivery cost was higher than anticipated. By reducing shipping time for the UPS Standard service, e-retailers in Romania can continue to increase customer satisfaction by getting products to their customers in Poland quickly and affordably.

The recent enhancements to UPS’s service are part of the company’s $2 billion investment in its European network and infrastructure. Recent investments include the opening of three super hubs in London, Paris, and Eindhoven, as well as new operational facilities in the Polish cities of Mysłowice and Stryków. As a result of UPS’s investment program, customers can now reach more than 80% of Europe’s population within two business days using UPS Standard.
