What’s new: The UPS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) Innovation Centre, located in Singapore, is an environment for UPS to collaborate with customers, technology partners, and academia across Asia through hands-on experiences with next-generation supply chain technologies in a simulated warehouse. These new concepts will be evaluated in what is a first of several more innovation centres to be established by UPS SCS worldwide.

Philippe Gilbert, President, UPS SCS, discusses reimagining and redefining a new normal in supply chains with Matthew Taylor on CNBC, Street Signs Asia.

Why it matters: Businesses are looking to increase investments in warehouse automation technologies to enhance productivity and competitiveness, or risk getting left behind.

Pandemic-related disruptions have also accelerated the adoption of e-commerce and at-home consumption, and businesses of all sizes are seeking ways to use digital technology to stay ahead of the competition.

Example of the cool tech: UPS is the first to deploy the Geek+ RoboShuttle® RS-5 tote-picking robot in Singapore. The bold technology features extended-depth bin-to-person picking capability which saves close to 50% of warehouse space. Using artificial intelligence algorithms for order analysis and robot scheduling, the technology improves overall productivity, accuracy and warehouse density.
